Queens Aerospace Design Team
Designed and manufactured composite aerostructures for a fixed-wing aircraft using Onshape and carbon fiber wet layup techniques. Key contributions included modeling a fully operational rudder and aileron, and engineering a structurally critical rod mount to connect the wing spar to the fuselage.
Moon Autonomous Rover for Cargo - With Canadian Space Agency (CSA)
Designed a cargo retrieval system in Autodesk Fusion for a project assigned by the Canadian Space Agency, working within the tight dimensions of a fixed CSA baseplate. Modeled the main assembly - including the transport bed, servo mounts, and gripping claws with set screws and bearings to prevent slipping, ensuring there was no interference when the bed rotates upwards. I also ran static stress simulations to analyze maximum displacement and ensure a Factor of Safety greater than 4. For a bonus objective, I designed a mount for a LiDAR sensor, centering it so it has a clear field of view to locate the target when the transport bed is in its lowered postion.
Water Filtration Device
As part of the first-year APSC 101 engineering design course, our team designed a water filtration device with the goal of significantly reducing water turbidity. As Mechanical Lead, I collaborated with a teammate on the main CAD assembly and specifically designed a custom press plate to actively filter out larger particles from the water source. Our final design successfully reduced the water's turbidity by 2000 NTU, comfortably exceeding the project's target drop of 1200 NTU. We ultimately presented our working prototype and technical reports, utilizing our before-and-after turbidity readings to demonstrate the system's effectiveness.
Custom Designed Lego F1 Stand
Combining my passion for Formula 1 and Lego, I custom-designed a multi-car display stand to showcase my Lego sets at dynamic angles rather than settling for standard flat mounts. This personal project challenged me to manage large CAD assemblies in Onshape, integrating an I-beam frame with mortise-and-tenon joints. It also marked an exciting milestone: my very first design brought to life from scratch using my own Bambu Lab A1 3D printer.
Boxer 6 Engine Design
I wanted to improve my CAD assembly skills while learning more about engine mechanics, so I modeled a simplified flat-six (Boxer) engine. This personal project was a great way to turn my interest in automotive engineering into a practical design exercise.
